MUSIC

It must be nice to take a 12 year sabbatical and be able to create an interesting collection of tunes that remind us of what we were missing while you were on hiatus. Aerial is Kate's first recording since 1993's "The Red Shoes." The music charts familiar territory in a comforting way without coming across as dated. Perhaps the music world hasn't changed so radically and Kate's abilty to just be Kate is a welcome return from an artist that is certainly an original not to mention a mammoth influence to a number of worthy proteges. I'm still scratching my head at the concept of Aerial being a two record set as the continuity suffers a bit. Unfortunately, Aerial will probably die on the vine(at least in this country) but will serve as a reminder of an artist working at her own pace and on her own merits. Better late than never.
