Review - Wilco - Kicking Television: Live In Chicago

A fine recording from a great band promoting a somewhat underrated record. "A Ghost Is Born" received positive reviews in general, but not nearly the praise received by "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

This live document, recorded over a few days at Chicago's Vic Theatre displays the band in prime form, becoming a little more alt and a bit less country. Kicking Television leans heavy on newer material that holds up on its own while blending nicely with older gems such as "Misunderstood" and "Shot In The Arm". Never afraid to experiment with arrangements and instrumentation, Wilco delivers the goods with this memento of a group tightening their sound, expanding their horizons and adding some muscle without completely ignoring the past.
