Review - Ryan Adams: Jacksonville City Nights
Ryan Adams

It's almost impossible to mention Ryan Adams without noting just how prolific of an artist he is. This guy gives Frank Zappa a run for his money. That being said, Jacksonville City Nights is the second offering from Adams this year with his next disc slated for a November release. Considering that Cold Roses (released earlier this year) is a two disc set, that brings the tally up to four. Can a Christmas standards collection be far behind?

Jacksonville City Nights showcases how ridiculously eclectic of an artist Ryan Adams can be. The songs come across as sincere and heartfelt as opposed to just tapping into a new genre for creative purposes. The disc even survives the seemingly obligatory duet with Norah Jones. Will it be a matter of time before Norah collaborates with Sheryl Crow and puts the dueting craze to bed for awhile? I digress and recommend this cd to anyone who likes their country old school and is open and tolerant enough to follow Ryan Adams on his musical odyssey. His best work is probably still in front of him and at the rate he's going, we'll get there sooner than later.
