Britpop is alive and well and seems to be thriving in Austin, TX thanks to Spoon's latest release. Gimme Fiction's tracks flow as a cohesive album (what a concept!) and stand up on their own as concise pop gems that are deceptively simple with a slightly raw feel. In the hands of the wrong producer this cd could come off as too polished and calculated. Instead, Gimme Fiction thrives as a strong collection of songs that will age gracefully with repeated listening.
