Review - Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins: Rabbit Fur Coat

The singer of Rilo Kiley strikes gold with a strong collection of country tinged songs that have huge crossover potential. Rabbit Fur Coat succeeds on all levels and may create a career crossroads for Jenny Lewis, just beginning to enjoy commercial success with independent favorites Rilo Kiley. This album's strengths lie in the songwriting and performance depts. and offers a curious cover choice of The Travelling Wilbury's "Handle With Care" featuring alt darlings Ben Gibbard and Connor Oberst on vocals. The Watson Twins add their touch throughout the CD with harmony backing vocals giving the songs a distinct flavor not found on the cut and paste country charts.

Rabbit Fur Coat may be the start of something new for Lewis or become a wonderful detour for a talented musican making the most of her opportunity to satisfy herself while pleasing others.
