MUSIC

This is an album that had so much promise to showcase one of the great songwriters of today and winds up disappointing in the performance category. Live At The Fillmore sounds like it was recorded at the end of the tour as many great songs are marred by half-hearted performance from a burned out Williams. The song selection leans heavy on Lucinda's last three releases which boast a number of gems like "Ventura", "Those 3 Days" and "Essence". One only wishes that these shows were recorded at the beginning or peak of the tour when the energy was more spirited. I would STILL recommend this CD on the material alone as Lucinda Williams remains the queen of the broken heart and hangover.
