Review - Son Volt: Okemah and the Melody of Riot

Jay Farrar is one of the most influential voices in "roots-rock" or "country-rock" today. Not taking anything away from his equally talented former partner Jeff Tweedy or course.
As the undisputed front-man of Son Volt, Farrar has crafted some of his finest work in the last 10 years with their lastest effort, Okemah and the Melody of Riot. From heavy distortion on "Jet Pilot" to airy accoustic play on "Ipecac," Son Volt takes the listener through a range of emotions and back again, and in the end, produces a memorable record with feeling.
Pay attention to: "Jet Pilot", "Ipecac", "Endless War"
Rating: 3.5 out of 5
