Review - Mike Doughty: Haughty Melodic

If you were ever a fan of Soul Coughing, Mike Doughty picks up where Soul Coughing left off. Haughty Melodic is the much anticipated and oft delayed work of the former Soul Coughing front man. Doughty's poetic lyrics and quirky riffing are common features. While some of the funkiness is gone, a pop feel takes its place that could give Haughty Melodic an entry or 2 on the charts.

A solid effort from beginning to end, it makes you think, while bobbing your head. An appearance by Dave Matthews compliments Doughty's performance without overshadowing it. Let's hope Mike Doughty has more stories to tell.
