MOVIES

In the early 1980's an important and influential genre of music emerged in the United States. Born out of frustration at the conservative landscape within the US at the time, hardcore punk rock became the gateway for release for many disenchanted youth.
American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock 1980-86, directed by Paul Rachman and written by Steven Blush, chronicles this short-lived but highly significant movement in American music. Rachman and Blush keep it raw, and allow the musicians to set the scene and tell the story. Countless interviews by Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat), Paul "H.R." Hudson (Bad Brains) and dozens of other musicians, combined with many amazing and rare video clips and photos recount this violent, yet authentic subculture.
