Review - National Treasure
national treasure

If you're like me and often wondered about where the symbols that appear on American currency come from, then Nicholas Cage has all the answers.

National Treasure, starring Nicolas Cage and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (The Rock, Gone in 60 Seconds) tells the tale of Benjamin Franklin Gates, an archeologist with a family secret. His secret revolves around an invisible treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence, left by our countries founding fathers. Although the plot may seem a bit far fetched, if you set aside belief like you would for Star Wars or ET, it's not so hard to imagine.

Director by Jon Turtletaub (Cool Runnings, 3 Ninjas) takes you on a wild ride through history as Gates and his team unravel the clues left behind for almost 200 years, as they attempt to protect a 1000 year old treasure from wrongdoers.

Yes the film is far fetched and yes the jokes can be a bit dry, but if you like Nic Cage and Jerry Bruckheimer films, this one won't let you down. It's certainly not Indiana Jones for the next century, but I guarantee that you will be pulling out a magnifying glass and a $100 bill after this one's over. (or a $10 spot at the very least).

Extra Bonus: Actress Diane Kruger, if you don't dig the plot, there's always the eye candy.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5
