LARRY SEBEN
Larry Seben is a fifty-ish freelance writer from suburban Pittsburgh. He has written for a wide variety of publications and web sites including the Valley News Dispatch, LocalBusiness.com, CRM Daily.com, the Bull and Bear Market Report, Commercial Real Estate magazine, the Tri-State Real Estate Journal, the Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Journal and Office.com.
His love of all things rock-and-roll goes back to a childhood where his parents played loads of Elvis Presley and other early rock and rollers throughout the house.
The first concert he ever attended was on May 2, 1970 at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh featuring the Blues Machine and the Doors. Portions of that very concert can be heard on the Doors Bright Midnight - Live in America CD.
Larry started playing bass for local bands in high school and continued through college at Penn State University, where he received a degree in political science.
Larry started compiling a "rock-and-roll ghoul" list of how and why rock stars died several years ago. Because of a weird fascination with all things obscure and trite, that list slowly morphed into a compilation of what happened on any given day in rock history.
According to Larry, the list featured on our site includes information from literally hundreds of publications and websites including Billboard, Excite, Rolling Stone, Rockdate Diary, several message boards as well as more mainstream news sources. Because much of what is listed is not kept in any semblance of order by anyone anywhere, he attempts to verify the authenticity of each item with at least two sources.
Larry and his wife Rita have two daughters, a laid-back dog "Linzy", and a psychotic cat named "Marvin" (a.k.a. Mr. Entertainment).
In addition to his writing, Larry also plays bass in a classic rock cover band called Harder Edge (www.harderedge.com).
Square Fact: Spends some of his free time watching the History Channel and the Food Network.
Cool Fact: Took his daughters to see their first concert - Aerosmith.
